Method Statement

SURFACE PREPARATION
• Clean the surface thoroughly to get rid of all contaminants. Remove all surface imperfections and repair with polymer modified mortar using Dr. Fixit Pidicrete URP.

PRIMING
• Prime the surface with Dr. Fixit Torchshield Primer. Allow it to dry for 8 to 10 hours.

APPLICATION
• Screed the mother slab with M 20 grade concrete, to a slope of 1 in 100, with at least 50 mm thickness at the outlet.
• Wrap all the pipe fittings and drainage fittings with Dr. Fixit Bathseal Tape.
• Torch over using the APP based membrane - Dr. Fixit Torchshield AM 4160 - with a mineral or slate finish of 4 mm thickness. Ensure overlaps of 100 mm with factory controlled / demarcated overlaps in the membrane.
• The membrane must go over the angle fillet at the parapet walls.
• Conduct flashing on the parapet wall with a C-shaped aluminium strip nailed (with SS Screws) to the vertical substrate at the termination of the membrane. Apply a single component Dr. Fixit PU sealant or a ‘neutral-cure’ silicone sealant to fill the gap and seal it.
• Provide Dr. Fixit roofing accessories such as roof drains, flashing strips, etc. as per standard roofing practices.

A. The granule or aluminum foil surfaced bitumen based waterproofing membranes are resistant to UV rays. All other bitumen based waterproofing membranes are not affected by UV rays as long as they are topped with a protective layer (screed, concrete, concrete tiles, gravel etc.).
