Voids in concrete

Sometimes concrete does not get compacted well, resulting in porosity and weak concrete. This results in honeycombing and voids in concrete. Honeycombs and voids can be treated by injecting ultra-fine cementitious grout.

Method Statement

SURFACE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION

All areas marked as honeycombs and big voids will be filled and densified with this treatment. The appropriate injection equipment as advised by the Dr. Fixit Technical Team should be used to inject the Pagel ZL 10 ultrafine injection, which is supplied in a dry powder form. Just the right amount of water must be added in accordance with the details provided in the technical data sheet i.e. 0.4 to 0.5 w/c ratio that will make the Pagel ZL 10 mixture extremely fluid. Small Voids and Honeycombs Appropriate nozzles generally used for any cementitious injection will serve the purpose. The nozzles can be fixed directly over the void. For Large Voids in Concrete

  • For large voids in concrete, remove the loose aggregates and cement laitance.
  • Provide shuttering over these areas and fill them in with Pagel ZL 10 grout through the nozzles.
  • The grout will develop good strength and areas that are shuttered for injections, can be undone, preferably after 48 hours, to ensure that no site abuse can damage the surface of the newly filled honeycombs.
  • If needed, finish off the surface of the concrete with the repair mortar Pagel R 20, rapid cementitious repair mortar, to increase the protection of the area

FAQ's

Pagel ZL10

Q. Where should Pagel ZL 10 be used? A. Pagel ZL 10 is used for injection grouting in &ndash &bull Cracks in concrete, masonry, solid stone walls, cavities, rock pockets, floor toppings, prefabricated concrete parts. &bull In concrete surfaces to strengthen them &bull Closing, sealing and impregnation of cracks, cavities and porous, low strength concrete.

Q. Is the product Pagel ZL 10 be mixed only with water & used as a grout? A. Yes it is meant to be mixed only with water as Pagel ZL 10 is blended with carefully formulated polymers, graded fine fillers & cement to give optimum performance as a grout. They are completely shrinkage compensated & offer considerable compressive strength consistently as the quality is controlled at the factory batching.

Q. Is there a need to add cement or any other polymer with it? A. No there is no need as Pagel ZL 10 is carefully formulated polymers, graded fine fillers & cement to give optimum performance as a grout.

Q. Does the product have any chlorides or corrosion inducing material? A. No Pagel ZL 10 is free from chlorides and other corrosion inducing materials.

Q. Can it be applied at all temperatures ? A. Application temperature ranges from 540*C

Q. How effective is the product as compared to grouting aids in terms of performance as a pore/capillary sealer? A. Grouting aids just provide flowability to cement. Prepacked cement grouts are better pore/capillary sealers in any given situation. Prepacked grouts such as Pagel ZL 10 is blended with carefully formulated polymers, graded fine fillers & cement to give optimum performance as a grout. They are completely shrinkage compensated & offer considerable compressive strength consistently as the quality is controlled at the factory batching.

Q. What is the pot life of the product? A. The pot life of the product is around 60 mins at ambient temperature of 30° C

Q. What is the compressive strength of the product at 28 days? A. The compressive strength of the product @ 28 days is around 50 55 N/mm²

Q. When do we not suggest the product? A. We do not suggest the product in case of severe leak of water is there from the cracks or concrete. Instead, Dr. Fixt PU Injection system should be used.

Q. Does the product have variants? A. Yes the product has variant Pagel ZS 10

Q. What is the post application care required? A. Plug the grouting holes with a suitable mortar post injection grouting
