Repairing an old construction on ?????

Need for waterproofing

The terrace of a building has the maximum area exposed to atmosphere, which is more prone to rain-water lash. Terrace surface tends to accumulate rain water, which in due course starts seeping inside the slab. The net result is leakage though ceiling in the house. That’s why terrace waterproofing is a very critical job.

The cracks in brickbat coba lead to water ingress and persistent dampness in roofs. A typical house with the potential sources of leakage from the terrace is: -

  • Parapet wall cracks
  • Vegetation
  • Pipes

Need for waterproofing

In modern constructions, external walls are built with masonry to fill the spaces in the RCC frame containing slabs, beams and columns. This lends itself to seepage of rain from the external walls to the interiors. Cement is a material that shrinks which causes shrinkage cracks in plasters leading to water seepage through these cracks. Premium exterior paints have very limited capability to withstand the rain lashing and handling the cracks on external surfaces. What is required is a high performance waterproof coating that would prevent seepage of water from the external walls to the interiors of the building.
